Include protein in your diet Proteins (amino acids) are the building blocks of muscles and tissues. Avoid red meats that are often laden with fats and cholesterol. Go for white meat (fish), legumes (especially soy bean products) and egg whites. Just add protein into your diet to give your metabolism a boost! 2. Have small and frequent meals Your metabolism will decrease every time your body goes into "starvation mode". Hence if you are thinking of skipping meals to lose weight, it will not only hinder your rate of weight loss but will also make you feel more lethargic. Also, research shows that people generally eat less overall in the day if they eat 5 to 6 small healthy meals throughout the day. 3. Do short, high intensity workouts Incorporate intervals of short burst workouts (about 3-10 minutes) into your exercise routine. Though long-range workouts (more than 20 minutes) do well in burning excess fats in your body, spikes of high intensity exercise will help tremendously in toning your muscles as well as increase your overall metabolism. A good tip is to try out interval running. Sprint for 100 meters then jog for another 100 meters then sprint then jog (400 meters = 1 round around the track).
