TABC Certification- Regulations in Texas

The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission has a certification program for anyone who works in the sales or service of alcohol. It is not required by state law to be taken by employees that serve or sell alcohol, but is often required by many establishments before they will hire someone. TABC certification will give anyone a good lesson in responsible alcohol service, laws and guidelines regarding service, and even a quick lesson in how to handle people who are overly intoxicated within your establishment. As an employer, it is up to you to mandate this course for your employees. As an employee, you must be willing to take this course for the job, because many companies require it throughout the state. When TABC certification is held and rules are broken, there are plenty of fines involved. The individual will be fined and face losing their certification, and the establishment will be fined. However, as long as there are no other issues, the establishment wonò€™t risk losing their permit or license to sell or serve alcohol because they were in compliance and are not responsible for the actions of one person. Certification is valid for two years, and has no prerequisites regarding age or background. Employers, however, might have age limits or background checks that need to be met as terms of employment. You can get TABC certification from a variety of learning centers and online courses, and the fees will vary from one place to the next. The goal here is to find a professional and reliable service that offers the course for an affordable cost. If you complete the TABC certification course, which is monitored by the TABC, your information will be kept on file so that employers can check to see if you are certified or not in future jobs, as well as how long you are certified for. After the two years has expired, there is no renewal process like many licenses and certifications have. You simply need to retake the course once your certification is up and you will again be certified for two more years. When employees are certified through the TABC certification program, businesses are able to operate more responsibly and trust that things will be done properly because everyone is informed and educated on how to handle various situation and the legalities of service and sales of alcohol within the state of Texas. Itò€™s not a law, but itò€™s good business sense
